  • Top mark refers to the device identification mark found on Fairchild semiconductor packages
  • Top mark is used for determining whether a product is genuine and whether it matches your order
  • Certain top marks refer to manufacturing date and assembly plant, and their values are dynamic

Example

Typical package markings include a pin 1 stripe and/or pin 1 dot, the company logo, and up to four lines of text, described below.

Line 1

Product name including the package ordering code, for example, 74LVT2244D. Note that commercial FAST products are marked without the N prefix, while industrial FAST products are marked with the I prefix.

Line 2

Batch information for tracing lot history, for example, B38090ME.

Line 3

The first 3 letters contain codes to indicate the diffusion center, the assembly center, and the final-test center of the device. The 4 numbers that follow indicate the assembly date code in the format YYWW. The next character is an alpha-numeric code representing the revision of the silicon die contained within the package. The final letter indicates the release status of the product as follows:
  • <blank> for released products
  • X for development samples
  • Y for qualification samples
An example might be: HRn9744 F X.

On smaller packages, the markings may be condensed to two lines or even one line. Truncation of characters within a line may also occur on small packages.

FBGA Part Making Decoder

fbga decorderDue to space limitations, FBGA-packaged components have an abbreviated part marking that is different from the part number. Micron's FBGA Part Marking Decoder makes it easier to understand that part marking.

Simply enter the five-digit code in the FBGA Code field and click "Search" to get the full part number. The FGBA code is the second 5-digit code found in the chip marking. It is typically preceded by an MT mark. (See Customer Service Note 11 for the correct position of the five-digit code)

Quality & Lead-free (Pb-free): Marking Convention

Product Marking

Product Identification
ON Semiconductor ( ONSEMI ) devices that are Pb-free have a PbF (2LI) symbol on the onsemi.com website. A "G" suffix is on all devices with a Pb-free lead finish.
Unique marking to differentiate Pb-free products
RoHS compliant/Pb-free lead finish products are identified by the addition of a "G" suffix to the end of the device name. All current parts that convert to Pb-free and all new Pb-free parts will take on the "G" suffix. Parts for which there is no lead free version will not have their part number changed in any way.

If the device is too small to accommodate the "G" suffix, the part will be marked with a microdot as shown below:
